We are a friendly, long-established society in the North of England, drawn together by an enthusiasm for costume and textiles — with a particular fondness for the historical. Collectors, scholars and the simply curious are all equally welcome.
Four gatherings a year with guest speakers on subjects ranging from Georgian needlework to wartime uniform — always followed by good conversation.
Visits to private and public collections across the region — a chance to see remarkable garments and textiles up close, often behind the scenes.
Our own small range of dressmaking patterns, each taken from a genuine historical garment and drawn to scale with full instructions and notes.

Members come from every walk of life — some with deep knowledge of the subject, many who simply want to learn more. Individual membership is £13 a year, students £6, institutions £20.
From lifelong collectors to the simply curious — everyone with a love of costume and textiles is welcome at our meetings.
